November 18, 2011 — Tower Federal Credit Union, the largest federal credit union in Maryland, recently received an Innovation in Wellness Award from the Howard County Health Department, in recognition of Tower’s outstanding “Wealth of Wellness” employee wellness program. Representatives from the county’s “Healthy Howard” program presented Tower with the award at a special ceremony at the Bain Center in Columbia, Md.
The Innovation in Wellness Award lauds businesses that offer a specific program or policy that goes above and beyond typical worksite wellness offerings. Three winners—one each in the small, medium and large business categories—are selected by a community panel. Each winner received a $500 cash prize. Tower was the recipient of the award in the medium business category.
In addition to the Innovation in Wellness Award, Tower received Gold-level certification for the second year in a row in the Howard County Health Department’s 2011 Healthy Workplaces Program. The Healthy Workplaces Program certifies businesses committed to improving employee health and well-being. Gold is the highest level certification a business can achieve in the program.
