September 30, 2011 — Get out your walking shoes. The Alzheimer’s Association will hold its annual Greater Baltimore Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Saturday, Oct. 29 at Oregon Ridge Park. Registration starts at 8 a.m. Participants are encouraged to come to in costume because the event is occurring close to Halloween. Adding to the fun will be Halloween candy and light refreshments, music and entertainment for the whole family.
At 9 a.m., Youth Ambassador Jessica Hill (16) will kick off the walk. Since 2005, Hill has been assisting with the care of her grandmother who has vascular dementia. She also works as a dining room server at Brigthwood, where she interacts with many residents who have various forms and stages of dementia. Participants are encouraged to register early, as teams (four+ members) or individually. Registration is free and available online at www.alz.org/maryland.
