December 28, 2010 — DirectMail.com™ (www.DirectMail.com), a leading provider of integrated direct marketing solutions,announced today the presentation of the John Swain Memorial Scholarship by the Direct Marketing Association of Washington-Education Foundation (DMAW-EF). The presentation took place at the DMAW’s annual Best of Direct Gala on December 2 in Washington, D.C.
The scholarship, which was established in 1986, is named in honor of John Swain, co-founder of DirectMail.com and a longtime DMAW member. It is awarded to an undergraduate in a mid-Atlantic college or university who demonstrates academic excellence and a desire to work in the field of marketing. The 2010 recipient is Faith Albers (above right) from Christopher Newport University. Past recipients have come from schools such as American University, Catholic University, James Madison University and Salisbury University, among others.
“For 25 years, the Swain family has generously provided funding for the John Swain Scholarship to encourage students with an interest in direct marketing and who have demonstrated academic excellence to continue their studies in the field,” says Karen Depew, Executive Administrator for DMAW-EF. “Faith Albers of Christopher Newport University is one of those bright students we hope will choose a successful career in our industry.”
