October 26, 2009 — UnitedHealthcare partnered with the Mayor of Baltimore, Baltimore City Schools, the Baltimore City Health Department, and the Family Centers of Baltimore to bring its Connected Care telehealth network to Maryland for the first time. Approximately 400 students from Dr. Carter Godwin Woodson Elementary and Middle School and Southside Academy experienced the latest telehealth technology in UnitedHealthcare’s state-of-the-art Connected Care mobile clinic. The 18-wheel demonstration clinic features video conferencing and health care technology to connect patients with physicians to bring healthcare to the underserved. The event also featured a free community health fair including wellness information, health and dental screenings, immunizations, and healthcare career learning sessions for students.
