Baltimore - Manekin, LLC has reached 100 percent occupancy at Anchor Square, the $8 million, 75,000-square-foot shopping center it developed and manages at I-95 and Eastern Avenue (MD Route 150).
McDonald’s has opened a 4,150-square-foot restaurant with drive-thru on a 0.66-acre pad site it is leasing for 20 years, with four 10-year options.
“We are delighted to have McDonald’s USA complete the leasing of Anchor Square and are confident that they will be a great asset to the center and the community for many years to come,” said David Meiners, senior developer with Manekin, LLC.
Plans are under way for a weeklong grand opening celebration to include daily food specials, face painting, giveaways, door prizes and live music. On Aug. 8, McDonald’s will donate 50 percent from each purchased happy meal to the Ronald McDonald House of Greater Baltimore. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place Aug. 10.
“The Anchor Square grand opening celebration will give patrons the chance to meet our McDonald’s family, experience the new look of McDonald’s and have some fun,” said Joe Cox, McDonald’s franchisee. “I am proud to own a restaurant in this community and look forward to providing an environment that really suits the needs of today’s customer.”
Located minutes from the Johns Hopkins Bayview Campus in a Baltimore City Enterprise Zone, Anchor Square sits on the site of the former Anchor Fence headquarters, built in 1927 for chain-link and ornamental fence manufacturing.
The facility served as the Anchor Fence headquarters from 1980 until 1997, when Master-Halco acquired the company and relocated operations to Edgewood. Manekin demolished the vacant Anchor Fence facility in 2005 in order to build Anchor Square, which opened the following year.
Founded in 1946, Manekin, LLC is a full-service commercial real estate firm headquartered in Columbia, Md., with additional offices in downtown Baltimore and Southern Maryland. The company offers asset management, brokerage, construction, development and investment services.
