Emily Bendann, Community Outreach Coordinator at SECU, has been named “Coordinator of the Year” for United Way in Anne Arundel County.

Under Bendann’s guidance, SECU employees pledged $31,000 to United Way and raised an additional $1,500 through special events. SECU also made a corporate donation of $5,600.

In addition, during United Way season alone, 22 SECU employees volunteered 89 hours for three United Way “Days of Caring.” Bendann also spearheads corporate volunteerism throughout the rest of the year.

“As the coordinator for SECU’s United Way Campaign, Emily was incredibly successful and creative at raising money and securing volunteers,” says SECU President and Chief Executive Officer Rod Staatz. “Her energy and enthusiasm are clearly contagious. We are very proud of her accomplishments on behalf of both SECU and the United Way.”

As SECU’s Community Outreach Coordinator, Bendann is responsible for getting SECU into the community. She creates opportunities for SECU to make a positive contribution to the well-being of those SECU serves.

Emily joined SECU in 2005. Since that time, she has volunteered for virtually every event and opportunity SECU has offered, making her a logical choice to spearhead SECU’s community outreach.

“Emily clearly has a passion for giving back and that really makes her stand out,” Staatz adds.

In her spare time, Bendann enjoys spending time with her husband and nieces. She also runs four mornings each week with the “Back On My Feet” running club and volunteers with several worthwhile organizations.
