January 23, 2012 – Stephen Rose, Ph.D., chief research officer of the Columbia-based Foundation Fighting Blindness, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Health Research Alliance (HRA). Dr. Rose is currently a co-chair on HRA’s Public Access Working Group and a participant in the organization’s Drug and Other Therapy Development Working Group. He has also been appointed to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors. Dr. Rose, who joined the Foundation in 2004, oversees its National Eye Evaluation Research clinical trial network and works closely with the Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board, Board of Directors and Science Liaison Committee. He also manages the Science Department. Prior to joining the Foundation, Dr. Rose served with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He is a member of many prominent scientific and research organizations, including the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and the American Association of Immunologists. HRA is a group of senior leaders from nearly 50 non-profit and non-governmental funders of biomedical research collaborating to advance and optimize health research and training.
