July 1, 2011 — Emily Bendann, Community Outreach Coordinator at the State Employees' Credit Union (SECU), has been named “Coordinator of the Year” for United Way in Anne Arundel County. Under Bendann’s guidance, SECU employees pledged $31,000 to United Way and raised an additional $1,500 through special events. SECU also made a corporate donation of $5,600. In addition, during United Way season alone, 22 SECU employees volunteered 89 hours for three United Way “Days of Caring.” Bendann also spearheads corporate volunteerism throughout the rest of the year.
Bendann first joined SECU as a teller, and quickly worked her way up through positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as an Investigator in the Fraud Division.
Founded in Baltimore in 1951, SECU is the largest state-chartered credit union in Maryland and is ranked within the top 75 in total assets in the United States.
