June 23, 2011 — Jon Laria, a partner at Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP and chair of the Maryland Sustainable Growth Commission, will become Managing Partner of the firm’s Baltimore office. He was co-chair of Gov. Martin O’Malley’s Housing and Community Development transition team and a member of the Governor’s Transition Steering. Laria also serves on the Urban Land Institute’s Baltimore District Council, and as vice-chair of the Healthy Neighborhoods, Inc. board. He previously served as president of Live Baltimore and of the Baltimore Jewish Council. Laria succeeds Raymond G. Truitt, who has been named Managing Partner for Finance and Operations. Truitt will remain a member of Ballard Spahr’s elected Board and will continue to be resident in the firm’s Baltimore office. Truitt, a real estate partner and fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, is a frequent speaker and author on commercial real estate topics for ACREL, the International Council for Shopping Centers, and other legal and commercial real estate organizations. Ballard Spahr is a national law firm with ten offices in the mid-Atlantic corridor.
