June 10, 2011 — The Board of Directors of the Association of Community Services (ACS) will honor retiring Executive Director Anne Towne during a tribute at the organization’s annual Audrey Robbins Humanitarian Awards luncheon on June 15. Anne is the Executive Director of the Association of Community Services, a 46-year old organization that has as its members not-for-profit, for profit, and government agencies and community advocates serving Howard County residents. Towne began her career in human services with a home-based hospice program in the District of Columbia where she worked for 14 years - as volunteer coordinator for two years then Executive Director for 12 years. During this time she was instrumental in forming a regional Council of Hospices. Next she served as Executive Director of the Greater Washington Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association where she had responsibility for three offices and services to five counties in Maryland as well as the District of Columbia. Based in Columbia, The Association of Community Services is a network of non-profit, for profit, faith-based and government agencies and citizen advocates.
