June 9, 2011 — Roger D. Winston, managing partner of Ballard Spahr’s Bethesda office, has been named the “Distinguished Maryland Real Property Practitioner” by the Maryland State Bar Association’s Real Property section. This annual award honors a Maryland attorney, still practicing real property law, for his or her personal and professional accomplishments, personal integrity, and contributions to improving the practice of real estate law. Winston is a partner in the Real Estate Department and managing partner of Ballard Spahr’s Bethesda office. He is co-partner-in-charge of the Planned Communities and Condominiums Group and a member of the Higher Education Group and Distressed Real Estate Initiative. Winston is a member of the Board of Governors of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and is on the advisory board of the Washington District Council of the Urban Land Institute. He is also the immediate past chair of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust, and Estate Law section.
