May 31, 2011 — Governor Martin O’Malley has appointed Michael Ertel to the board of trustees for the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC). Ertel currently serves as a commercial insurance broker with the Jacobs Company. Ertel is chairman of the Optimist Oratorical and "Shop with a Cop" programs, and is a member and past president of the Hamilton Optimist club. He is also co-chairman of the University Relations Committee at Towson University. Additionally, Ertel served as president of the Greater Towson Council of Community Associations from 2006 to 2008, and as an officer of the organization from 2005 through 2009. He is also past president of the West Towson Neighborhood Association, and a board member since 2001. Providing accessible, affordable and high quality education since 1957, CCBC educates nearly 70,000 students each year, including half of all Baltimore County residents attending college in Maryland as undergraduates.
