April 25, 2011 — Bernie Dancel, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Ascend One Corporation (formerly Amerix), has been named one of the “25 CEOs You Need to Know” by The Gazette of Politics and Business. This award honors Maryland business leaders, and recognizes them for the success of their companies and their charitable work in the community. The 2011 Award Winners were chosen from companies of all sizes from around the state of Maryland, with five different counties being represented by the winning companies. Prior to leading Amerix, Dancel started National Credit Counseling Services, a nonprofit credit counseling agency, which later became Genus Credit Management. Dancel serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Howard Bank. He is one of the founding members of the Columbia Ravens Football organization and is the Chairman of the Dancel Family Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to focus on the needs of children. He has served on the boards of the Howard County Public School Education Foundation, Columbia Foundation for the Arts, and Howard County Community College Education Foundation. Dancel also plays a significant role in supporting Junior Achievement, Starr, Domestic Violence Center of Howard County, National Family Resiliency Center, Howard County Academy of Finance, Maryland Council on Economic Education and the Horizon Foundation. Ascend One is a debt-management company based in Columbia.
