March 28, 2011 — Sherry E. Bithell has joined Stevenson University’s Marketing and Public Relations Office as its first Assistant Vice President of Publications. Bithell has nearly 18 years of experience working in publications, more than 11 of which were in higher education. Before joining Stevenson University, she worked for Laureate Education as an editor and a writer for its U.S. campus-based and online universities. Bithell also worked at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) for 10 years. For nearly a decade she worked in the publications unit of the Office of University Relations, where she managed the university’s quarterly alumni magazine, a semi-annual public policy magazine, and other publications as needed. She also served as the editorial staff supervisor. From 1999-2001, she worked in Virginia Tech’s Office of University Development as development communications manager. Bithell’s previous work experience includes four years at Agora Publishing in Baltimore and a year at First Marketing Company in Pompano Beach, Fla. Stevenson University is the third-largest independent university in Maryland with more than 3,900 students pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, and adult accelerated degrees in the classroom and online.
