March 21, 2011 — Joan Floura, owner and principal of Baltimore-based Floura Teeter Landscape Architects, has been appointed to the scientific and technical advisory committee of Blue Water Baltimore (BWB), a non-profit organization that aims to achieve clean water in Baltimore’s rivers, streams and harbor. A graduate of North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, Floura is a registered landscape architect with over 18 years in client relations, design, and project management. Her firm’s recent work includes recreating wetlands for Maryland’s Intercounty Connector project and designing green roofs for Baltimore’s Convention Center and People Court building that keep polluted runoff from entering the water system. FTLA is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise with Baltimore City; Baltimore, Howard and Prince George’s Counties, Md.; and the states of Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. FTLA serves the public and private sectors, focusing on institutional, transportation and urban design projects.
