


March 11, 2011 — Baltimore Reads elected three new members to its board of directors: Wendy Odell Magus, vice president for marketing at Kiddie Academy; Scott A. McWilliams, chief operating officer for Management Resources Group, Inc.; and Trent Stroup, director of information systems for development and alumni relations at The Johns Hopkins University*. Prior to joining Kiddie Academy in 2008, Ms. Magus was senior director of marketing at Sylvan Learning. She has also worked for Disney and Kennedy Krieger Institute. Ms. Magus holds a bachelor’s in business administration from Southern Adventist University and a certificate in franchise management from Georgetown University. Prior to joining Management Resources Group, McWilliams served in various leadership positions for Deloitte Consulting, L.L.P., Constellation Energy Group, Trigen Energy Corporation and Baltimore Aircoil Company. Prior to Hopkins, Mr. Stroup served as a computer engineer for the Department of the Navy. He is also the president and co-founder of The Stroup Kids for Kids Epilepsy Foundation, Inc., created in honor of his daughter who is being treated for epilepsy. Baltimore Reads is a nonprofit organization that offers instruction to adults in basic reading, writing, mathematics, English language, GED prep and employment readiness skills; engages in community outreach; and raises awareness of the adult literacy crisis in the Baltimore region.
