February 11, 2011 — Joan Webb Scornaienchi, executive director of HC DrugFree, was elected to serve as the 2011 chair of the Howard County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Advisory Board, which reviews services and the need for services relating to alcohol and drug abuse education, treatment and prevention. Scornaienchi has more than 20 years of experience in educational administration, in addition to service as a drug and alcohol prevention specialist for a county-funded hospital program. She was a grants specialist and education program specialist for the Division of Special Education/Early Intervening Services of the Maryland State Department of Education. She also served in the financial services division of a Fortune 100 company in Columbia. Scornaienchi holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a master’s degree in student personnel services and completed all but her dissertation for a doctorate in educational administration. HC DrugFree, a nonprofit organization based in Columbia.
