January 24, 2011 — The Horizon Foundation has added Glenn E. Schneider, Director of Health Policy for the Howard County Health Department, as Chief Program Officer. Schneider’s Health Department work included developing the nation's largest drive-thru flu clinic, enacting the country’s first ban on indoor tanning for minors and implementing the Healthy Howard Health Plan. He previously served as Executive Director of the Maryland Health Care for All Coalition. The Coalition advanced one of the nation’s largest Medicaid expansions as well as a model prescription drug discount program for the uninsured. He has also worked for The Maryland State Medical Society and Smoke Free Maryland Coalition, and served as Federal Project Director for the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in the area of tobacco use prevention. The Horizon Foundation is a strategic, action-oriented philanthropy dedicated to improving community health and wellness.
