January 3, 2011 — Laurie Remer has been promoted to vice president of programs at Leadership Howard County (LHC). Remer previously directed the youth program for more than five years, and directed Leadership Essentials since 2008. Prior to working at LHC, Remer was president of the board of directors at HC DrugFree Inc., director of Youth Programs for Leadership University; and Campus Department chair of undergraduate business at the University of Phoenix-Maryland Campus. She is a member of the Women's Giving Circle of Howard County, a past advisory board member and current member of Grants Committee/Founder of Journey, and a board member for the Urban Rural Transportation Alliance. Leadership Howard County is a Columbia-based non-profit which is part of a national movement of "community leadership programs".
