November 18, 2010 — Tech Council of Maryland's (TCM) CEO Renee Winsky received the Technology Advocacy Award at the Howard Technology Council's 2010 Annual Technology Awards dinner. The award is presented annually to an individual who has made a significant difference in the technology business community by fostering an improved regulatory business environment to ensure success for emerging and established technology companies in Maryland. Winsky was selected for this year's award based on her hard work and dedication on behalf of Maryland's technology community during her tenure at the Maryland Technology Development Corporation and her work with TCM during the 2010 legislative session in Annapolis. Under her leadership, TCM achieved a key goal of ensuring that the requested budget appropriation for the Biotech Tax Credit of $6 million was not cut by the legislature, but actively worked towards its increase by an additional $2 million. Winsky previously served as president and executive director of the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), TCM is Maryland's largest technology trade group serving the tech and biotech communities.
