October 25 2010 — Dr. Marye Anne Fox, a member of the W. R. Grace & Co. Board of Directors, is one of ten researchers to receive this year's National Medal of Science. The Award is presented by The President of the United States to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to science and engineering during their lifetimes. Fox is currently chancellor of the University of California at San Diego. Previously, she served as chancellor of North Carolina State University and Distinguished University Professor of Chemistry. Fox has served as the co-chair of the National Academy of Sciences, Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable, and served on President Bush's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. Additionally, she is a member of the boards of directors of Red Hat Corp. and the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation. Based in Columbia, W. R. Grace & Co. is a supplier of catalysts and other products to petroleum refiners around the world.
