June 22, 2010 — Bowie State University has selected Dr. Stacey Franklin Jones to serve as its new provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. She was formerly with Benedict College where she served as senior vice president. Before that time, Jones served as dean for the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Prior to joining Benedict, Jones taught computer science courses and was a research scientist at Johns Hopkins University. Bowie State University is a liberal arts college that places special emphasis on the science, technology, teacher education, business, and nursing disciplines.
