June 21, 2010 — Yolanda Copeland, RN, BSN, MA, senior vice president of Patient Services and chief nursing officer (CNO) at Saint Agnes Hospital, was honored last week as the winner of the 2010 Nursing Spectrum Excellence Award in the category of Advancing & Leading the Profession for the DC/MD/VA region.
Nursing Spectrum and NurseWeek created this national program to recognize the extraordinary contributions nurses make to their patients, one another and the nursing profession. Nurses are awarded in six categories: advancing & leading the profession, clinical care, community service, management, mentoring and teaching. A panel of nursing leaders narrowed the field to 30 regional finalists from which six winners were chosen.
Saint Agnes Hospital is a full-service, 307-bed teaching hospital founded by the Daughters of Charity in 1862, with residency programs in a number of medical and surgical specialties.
