
June 15, 2010 — J. Scott Wilfong, chairman, president and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Greater Washington/Maryland, has been elected chairman of the Maryland Bankers Association (MBA). MBA is the only professional association representing the banking industry in Maryland. Wilfong will be the MBA’s 114th Chairman, and will also lead the Association’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Beforehand, Wilfong served as president and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Atlanta and president and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Maryland. Before that time, he worked as senior vice president and commercial division manager at First National Bank of Maryland, and also held positions with Equitable Trust Company. Wilfong has also served on the boards of the Baltimore Development Corp., Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond - Baltimore Branch, Greater Baltimore Alliance, Greater Baltimore Committee, Mercy Health Services, Inc., and Loyola College’s Sellinger School of Business & Management. He currently serves as chair American Heart Walk 2007-2008, Washington Board of Trade, Greater Washington Initiative (Executive Committee), Federal City Council (Executive Committee), HEROES, Inc, Washington National Zoo, Mt. St. Mary’s University, Virginia Early Children’s Foundation. SunTrust Banks, Inc. (SunTrust) is a financial services holding company based in Washington, DC.
