April 29, 2010 — Sigma Space Corporation has appointed Dr. Phil DeCola as its chief science officer. Dr. DeCola served as science advisor to two administrations as senior policy analyst in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). Before joining OSTP, he served as lead scientist for Atmospheric Composition in the NASA Science Mission Directorate Earth Science Division. He has served as lead scientist for U.S. Government delegations to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), has been the U.S. science focal point for IPCC since 2003, and has worked on the IPCC scientific assessments since 1994. Dr. DeCola will also join Sigma's Board of Directors. Based in Lanham, Sigma Space Corp. produces pioneering instrumentation in lidar, laser ranging, attitude determination, and radiometry for scientific remote sensing and defense applications, as well as scientific data processing and analysis services.
