April 6, 2010 – Clifton Gunderson, ranked as one of the nation’s largest certified public accounting and consulting firms, has named Tony Cord as regional director of business development. In this new role, Cord is responsible for leading business development efforts in the DC metropolitan region.
Cord brings more than 20 years of business development and strategic planning experience to his new role. Prior to joining Clifton Gunderson, Cord served as the business development leader for an international accounting firm, where he developed regional strategies and tactics and created a leadership position for sourcing and closing professional services and products to public, private and tax-exempt organizations.
“Tony’s proven business development skills and industry knowledge are great additions to our rapidly growing DC and Northern Virginia practices,” said H. Terry Hancock, CPA, managing partner of the firm’s Mid-Atlantic Client Service Center in a statement. “He is a welcome addition to the Clifton Gunderson team.”
Cord holds a master’s of business administration from the Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland. He serves as a trustee for the Federal City Council of Washington, a board member for the D.C. Chamber of Commerce, a mentor for DC College Success Foundation and on the Executive Forum Committee of the Tech Council of Maryland. Cord is also an active member of professional organizations such as the Northern Virginia Tech Council, Greater Washington Board of Trade and the Association for Corporate Growth. He resides in Washington, DC.
