March 4, 2010 — New Generation Biofuels Holdings Inc., a renewable fuel provider, announced the appointment of Douglas S. Perry to serve in the company’s Board of Directors until the company's next annual shareholders meeting, according to a press release. Perry will be replacing Steven F. Gilliland, who has resigned from its board due to time commitments in other business activities.
Perry is currently the president and CEO of Davenport Newberry Holdings, in which he manages an organization in the development of geothermal power projects, according to the release.
"We are extremely pleased to have Doug Perry join our Board," said Cary J. Claiborne, CEO of New Generation Biofuels in a statement. "His expertise in the energy industry and in the areas of project development and funding will be essential to the development and growth of New Generation Biofuels."
Perry said that he his “look[ing] forward to working with New Generation Biofuels. It is a forward looking company with a unique product and process for producing biofuels from renewable sources."
Referring to the resignation of Gilliland, former board member, Claiborne said, "We appreciate Mr. Gilliland's contributions as a director over the last three years and wish him well on his future endeavors."
About Douglas Perry
Mr. Perry holds an engineering degree and a master’s degree from Duke University. He also holds law degrees from Emory University and Georgetown University.
Perry has worked in legal positions, including serving as special counsel/attorney with the Securities and Exchange Commission's Divisions of Corporation Finance and Enforcement, according to the release.
He became the senior vice president of Constellation Power, Inc., an energy supplier, where he built and led an organization that developed and acquired power projects in the United States and Latin America exceeding $2 billion in investments, according to the release.
He also spent around 20 years in senior leadership positions at Constellation Energy Group, including president of Constellation Power Development and vice president and general counsel for Constellation Holdings, according to the release.
From 2003 to 2005, Perry was a consultant working with start-up companies and projects to develop technology verification and commercialization strategies, improve business operations and obtain funding, according to the release.
