January 12, 2010 — PharmAthene Inc., an Annapolis-based biodefense firm, has appointed Dr. Jeffrey W. Runge to its board of directors. Runge is a principal at The Chertoff Group, a firm providing advisory services in business-risk management, homeland security and homeland defense. He also is the president and founder of Biologue Inc. Runge served in the Bush administration, first as the head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, then he became the Department of Homeland Security's first chief medical officer and founded the department's Office of Health Affairs.
