February 3, 2012 — Jason F. Grove, a manager in the Audit, Accounting, and Consulting Department at Ellin & Tucker, Chartered, has recently been named Treasurer of the Dyslexia Tutoring Program. In addition to his responsibilities as a manager, Grove is also a member of Ellin & Tucker’s Technical Standards Committee which develops programs to enhance the professional staff’s understanding of current accounting and auditing standards and the firm’s Investment Company and Construction Services Groups. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. Grove is a graduate of Towson University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. The mission of the Dyslexia Tutoring Program is to teach low-income children and adults with dyslexia, or a language-based learning difference, to read which is accomplished through a professional screening assessment and tutoring by volunteers who have been trained in the Orton-Gillingham method of reading, writing, and spelling. Ellin & Tucker is an accounting and consulting firm that represents clients from its offices in Baltimore, Belcamp, and Frederick, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
February 3, 2012 — Donna Booth, M.D., F.A.C.S., a member of Katzen Eye Group since 1994, is now seeing patients at the practice's Bel Air location. Dr. Booth is a board certified ophthalmologist who specializes in consultative ophthalmology and cataract surgery. Dr. Booth is a member of various medical organizations such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Maryland State Medical Society. Dr. Booth received her Bachelors of Science in Chemistry in 1977 from Mary Baldwin College where she graduated with honors. She completed medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1981 and then studied at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in the Ophthalmology Selective program.
Dr. Booth completed her internship in internal medicine at the Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, and held her ophthalmology residency at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine, where she was a chief resident. She will provide a variety of services to patients in Harford County including cataract surgery, anterior segment ophthalmology and dry eye services. Katzen Eye Group, founded in 1968 by Dr. Leeds Katzen, is the largest private eye care practice in Maryland, with offices in Lutherville/Towson, Rosedale, Bel Air and at Mercy Medical Center.
February 3, 2012 — Software development company triCerat, Inc., creator of the ScrewDrivers® print management technology, has appointed Timothy L. Beal as Chief Financial Officer. Beal has more than 30 years of experience in optimizing financial performance and improving productivity in the distribution, healthcare, and professional services industries. His prior experience includes starting and successfully running his own consulting firm, Beal & Associates, LLC, and serving as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer in several major organizations. Beal is a member of Vistage International, The Christian Business Network, the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, and the Maryland Association of CPA's. Beal received his MBA in Finance from Loyola University and his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Towson University.
February 1, 2012 — The National Aquarium has named Steven Schindler as the organization’s new Chief Marketing Officer. Schindler brings to the Aquarium more than 20 years of experience developing marketing programs. Most recently, he was the vice president of marketing of Local.com Corporation, a leading online media company that connects small and medium businesses and national advertisers with more than 25 million monthly unique visitors. He has held key marketing positions with Bally’s Las Vegas and Contiki Holidays, where he worked on assignment in London, England developing U.S. inbound tour programs.
In 1992, he founded his own California-based marketing firm, Schindler Marketing Group, Inc., and served as president and creative director for 16 years. Schindler co-founded and served as president of Sasa Technologies. Schindler served on the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau′s Community Relations Committee and was an active member of the California Travel Industry Association and San Diego Hotel-Motel Association. Schindler earned his Bachelor of Science Marketing and Public Relations Degrees from San Diego State University and studied International Business at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
January 30, 2012 –— Louis J. Cannon Jr. has joined Miles & Stockbridge P.C. as an Associate. Cannon brings significant experience to his work with the Traditional Labor & Collective Bargaining Practice Area within the firm's Labor & Employment Practice Group. Cannon represents management in the full spectrum of traditional labor matters. He has defended clients in litigation with labor unions in federal courts, before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and in labor arbitrations with American Arbitration Association (AAA) and Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service (FMCS) arbitrators involving discharges and contract interpretation disputes. Cannon joins a team of nine lawyers, led by Principal Laura Pierson-Scheinberg.
Previously, Cannon was an associate with a labor and employment boutique firm. During law school, he served as a law clerk with the United States Attorney's Office and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). He earned his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law, where he was an associate editor of the Maryland Law Review. He graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. from the University of Maryland.
