            Robert L. Hannon has been appointed the new president and CEO of the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp. by new County Executive John R. Leopold. Hannon was most recently the assistant secretary for the Baltimore region for the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. He will replace Aaron Greenfield who was named chief of staff for new Howard County Executive Ken Ulman.

           

Image            Frederick A. Tarantino has been named president and chief executive officer of the Universities Space Research Association, a national consortium of 100 universities based in Columbia. He brings experience from a non-profit library, the private industry and the federal government to the new position. Tarantino spent 19 years in the U.S. Army working on space power and hardware. He served in the White House as executive assistant to the National Security Council’s senior director for science and technology. He was most recently principal associate director of the nuclear weapons program at the Los Alamos National Laboratory where he directed all aspects of a science-based weapons stewardship program.

            The Howard County Chamber of Commerce has named Jennifer H. Palmer its new director of government and community affairs. She will provide staff support to the chamber’s legislative committee and will draft position papers and communicate with the county council and county delegation of the General Assembly. Palmer began working in legislative affairs in 1999 and worked as a state liaison for legislative affairs for the National Rifle Association.

 

           Marianne Swearingen has been named lead researcher for CB Richard Ellis, a commercial real estate services firm. She will oversee all of the research activities in the company’s four Baltimore-Washington area offices. Swearingen joined CB Richard Ellis in 2005 as a researcher in Northern Virginia. Prior to that she started and ran the research division at GVA/Advantis, a commercial real estate firm in Fla.

 

            The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business has named Wei-Wu He a senior Smith fellow. He is general partner and co-founder of Emerging Technology Partners LLC, a Maryland venture capital firm focused on the life science industry. In his fellowship role, he will concentrate on work within the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship.

           

Image            Kenneth Franco has been named director of project management and technology integration for RelianceNet, an Annapolis information technology firm. Franco will focus on the company’s operational processes, service delivery and will provide hands-on project management. He has over 28 years of information technology and project management experience. Franco was most recently a senior manager at BearingPoint Inc., an international technology consulting company.

 

            The Baltimore/Washington Corridor Chamber Foundation has elected three new members to its board of directors. They are R. Stephen Carroll of Miles & Stockbridge in Columbia, William R. Chambers of the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro and Donald R. Vogt of PBS&J in Beltsville. They will help guide the non-profit affiliate of the Baltimore/Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce in its scholarship and gala events as well as its annual math symposium.

                       

Image            Citizens National Bank has expanded its business banking team. Bonnie Lindsay has been promoted to vice president of the business banking group. She will be responsible for business customers in West Anne Arundel County and the Bowie market of Prince George’s County. Lindsay has 25 years of banking experience. She was most recently the branch manager of Citizens’ Odenton office.

 

Image            Lindsay will replace Tammy Winters, also a vice president in the business banking group at Citizens National. Winters will now be responsible for the Howard County market. She joined Citizens in April and has over eight years of banking experience from Florida.

 

            Crosby Marketing Communications, an Annapolis advertising and public relations agency, has promoted Tammy Campbell-Ebaugh to executive vice president. She will continue to have client responsibilities and will take on expanded strategic planning and team building initiatives for the 48-person agency. Prior to joining Crosby in 2001, Campbell-Ebaugh was vice president of marketing for Hair Cuttery.

 

            Crosby Marketing has also hired Fred Jorgensen as its director of interactive marketing. In the newly-created position, Jorgensen will serve as the lead advisor in creating e-marketing strategies, incorporating Web site development and online advertising and e-mail promotion for Crosby clients. He most recently managed online marketing for Sylvan Learning. Prior to that he started the interactive division at Trahan, Burden & Charles, a Baltimore agency.

 

Image            M&T Bank has named Michael V. Mistretta a commercial branch manager for M&T’s flagship branch in Baltimore. He will be responsible for business development in the greater Baltimore area and will oversee commercial and retail operations in the Charles Street branch. Mistretta has more than 18 years of financial services experience. He joined M&T Bank in 2000.

 

            Daryl J. Faulkner has been hired as president and chief executive officer of Digene Corp., a Gaithersburg company that develops and manufactures DNA and RNA testing systems. Faulkner will also join the company’s board of directors. He has more than 35 years of operational and strategic experience. Faulkner was most recently a senior vice president for Invitrogen Corp., a life sciences company.

           

Image            William H. Oliver, the partner in charge of accounting firm Clifton Gunderson’s Washington, D.C. office, was elected chairman of the Illinois company’s partnership board. He will serve a one-year term. Oliver, who leads the firm’s local federal government practice, will oversee the nine-member board. His responsibilities will include chairing all board meetings and setting goals for the CEO. He has served on the board for four years. Oliver has over 29 years of experience in government auditing, accounting and consultation, fraud investigations and litigation support.

           

            Linda R. Gooden has been named the new executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Information and Technology Services. She will replace retiring executive Michael F. Camardo. Gooden will be responsible for all business operations and activities. She was president of Lockheed Martin Information Technology, based in Seabrook. Gooden joined Lockheed Martin in 1980 and has also served as vice president of the company’s software support services, as well as other positions within the corporation.

           

            Manekin LLC, a full-service commercial real estate company in Columbia, has promoted Erin Straughan to assistant property manager. She will be responsible for working with tenants and vendors on contracts and projects. Straughan joined the firm three years ago as a property management administrative assistant.

                                   

            Alexander Inglese has been named senior director of real estate for Opus East LLC, a Rockville real estate development company. He will be responsible for the management of real estate development for Opus East’s mixed-use and retail projects. He has 25 years of real estate experience in the Washington, D.C. area. Most recently Inglese was managing director of development for Federal Realty Investment Trust in Rockville.

 

Image            Brian R. Canuel has been hired as branch manager of the Columbia Bank’s Bowie branch. He will oversee the day-to-day operations of the branch and develop new business opportunities in Prince George’s County. Canuel has more than six years of financial experience. Prior to joining Columbia Bank he was a premier banking and investments client manager for Bank of America in Annapolis.

 

            Enterprise Community Investment Inc., a national provider of development capital for affordable housing, has appointed C. Lamar Seats to senior vice president of multifamily mortgage finance. He has 20 years of experience in real estate finance. Previously he was senior vice president at Reilly Mortgage Group.

 

            Clifton Gunderson has made eight new editions to its Baltimore office. Stephanie Malone has been hired as a manager. She was previously an audit manager for a public accounting firm in Bethesda. Edwin Miller was hired as an IT manager. He is a certified information systems security professional. Donald Butler has been hired as senior IT associate. Prior to joining Clifton Gunderson, Butler worked as an internal auditor for several public accounting firms. Melissa Savino, Michael Solomon and Adam Lange were all hired as associates. Victoria Jones has joined the firm as an IT associate. Molly McGlothlin joined the firm as a marketing coordinator.
