July 1, 2009 –
Thanks to the Maryland Hospital Association’s “Who Will Care?” campaign, more than $1 million dollars has been pledged to Community College of Baltmore's School of Health Professions to increase the educational capacity for nurses and to double the number of registered nurse graduates in Maryland.
Through the “Who Will Care?” campaign, public and private schools of nursing will receive grant funding to assist in efforts to educate more nurses. The funds will allow these schools to hire additional faculty, implement new and improved technology, add retention programs and expand clinical sites. “Who Will Care?” is seeking to raise $20 million in private, philanthropic gifts and public funding to aid in this effort, with an overall goal of raising $60 million.
Three local health care organizations have already pledged significant dollars through this campaign and have designated CCBC’s School of Health Professions as the recipient. They include MedStar Health which has pledged $1 million dollars, St. Agnes hospital which has pledged $50,000, and Greater Baltimore Medical Center & Gilchrist Hospice Care which has pledged $10,000.
